Computers @YOUR LIBRARY

Computers

Computers for browsing the Internet (including email), accessing information online, or for use with word processing etc. are available for public use. See the Internet Use Policy and the Computer Assistance Policy for more information.

South Branch has 16 PC's which can be used for Internet access or word processing. All public computers offer Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access. All computers have Gale Database access, including Infotrac and Gale Net.

Customers must sign up for a computer in person at the check-out desk. Computers are generally assigned at the start of each hour. Due to the high demand for computers, customers can only reserve ONE hour per day for computer use. Customers are encouraged to arrive to the branch a few minutes before the time they would like to sign up for a computer. Please call the branch for more information (901)946-8518.


Job and Career Center @YOUR LIBRARY

Job and Career Center

South’s Job and Career Center offers test preparation study guides (ACT, GED, SAT), information on colleges and universities, scholarships, student loans, etc. This collection also includes materials on preparing resumes, cover letters and interviewing tips and in-depth overviews of careers.  In addition, the JobLINC bus stops by with more job listings and career information.

Meeting and Study Rooms @YOUR LIBRARY

Meeting  and Study Rooms

Two public meeting rooms with a seating capacity of 35 people each are available free of charge to non-profit groups whose meetings are open to the public. These rooms can be converted into one large room which will accommodate 70 people. Three study rooms are available for quiet study. Please call the branch for information on reserving these rooms.


Children's Services @YOUR LIBRARY

South Branch provides storytime for preschoolers (ages 3-5) on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Groups of 10 or more must call the branch to register. The Monthly Calendar of Events provides information on specific programs highlighted during the month.  For the current schedule of all programs offered by the library, consult InfoDATES, News and Events at Your Memphis Public Libraries.


Items for Sale at Check-Out Desk @ YOUR LIBRARY

The Check-Out Desk at each library has a handy "store" of useful items for sale


Parent/Teacher Collection

South Branch has a Parent/Teacher Collection. The Parent/Teacher Collection provides parents, teachers and childcare providers a variety of materials to promote the growth and development of preschoolers and school age children.


Voter Registration

Voter registration forms are available at the South Branch Library.
