Dietary Guidelines for Americans is published once every 5 years by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture. It provides advice from the government on how to promote health and reduce the risk of chronic disease through nutrition and physical activity.

Federal Citizen Information Center provides free or low cost publications from the government. A lot of the publications are full text on the site, available to be read before being ordered. Their National Contact Center provides contacts for questions about federal programs, benefits, or services. They also list toll-free numbers for federal agencies, along with telelphone directories for members of Congress.

Consumers Action Handbook has advice and consumer tips and FirstGov for Consumers brings together information from several federal agencies in one easy point of access.
